Originating in the 1920s, the French 75 was one of the coolest drinks during the Interwar Period. Heck, if you want to get literary, you could say the French 75 was the “Lost Generation’s libation!” With its bubbly champagne top and lovely lemon garnish, this drink has all the elegance and exuberance of the Roaring Twenties.

To add some extra punch to this Prohibition staple, we thought it’d be great to add a splash of our citrus-flavored CBD oil. Just be careful not to overdo this potent drink. They didn’t name it after an artillery weapon for nothing!

Since the French 75 originated in Paris, it’s traditional to top this drink with bubbly champagne. But don’t feel like you need to splurge on a high-end brand for this recipe. If you’re going to spend extra on any ingredients, you should look for a top-shelf gin with a citrus-forward flavor.

Honestly, if you don’t have champagne at home, there’s nothing wrong with using a dash of prosecco or Spanish cava to top this drink. Sure, these aren’t “authentic” choices, but they’re acceptable substitutes if you have them on hand.

CBD Caipirinha Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz gin
  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • 1 oz Tribe CBD oil (citrus)
  • 3 – 4 oz of champagne
  • Lemon peel (garnish)

Directions

  • Pour gin, simple syrup, lemon juice, and Tribe CBD oil into a cocktail shaker
  • Add ice and shake for a few seconds
  • Strain into a pre-chilled flute glass
  • Top with champagne
  • Garnish with a lemon peel

Since the French 75 is such an old drink, it has gone through numerous variations over the years. Indeed, some of the French 75 variations have become so popular that they’ve earned their own names.

For instance, the “French 76” swaps out gin for vodka. Those who use whiskey rather than gin are technically making a “French 95.” Go ahead and sample all of these renditions to find what version you like the most.
