Despite the Last Word’s popularity during Prohibition, it was almost totally forgotten by the late 20th century. However, due to the recent resurgence in classic cocktails, the Last Word seems to have had the “last laugh!” Well-known for its alluring green hue, the Last Word is a perfect cocktail for connoisseurs who adore nuanced flavor profiles.
To help jazz up this Jazz Age standard, we’re going to add a pinch of our citrus-flavored CBD oil. Trust us; a little bit of our high-quality CBD oil will make this cocktail’s relaxing vibes last even longer.
Unlike many other CBD cocktails on our blog, it’s best to avoid tweaking the Last Word recipe. If you can’t find the exact ingredients listed below, please hold off making this cocktail. According to most bartenders, once you start veering off the official Last Word recipe, you could easily cause flavor imbalances.
The only alteration you might want to consider is reducing the amount of fresh lime juice. Traditionally, everything in the Last Word measures ¾ oz; however, please remember we’re adding some extra “zing” with our citrus-flavored CBD oil. Therefore, if you don’t want the citrus flavors to be too overpowering, consider pouring ½ oz of lime juice.
CBD Last Word Recipe
Ingredients
- ¾ oz gin
- ¾ oz lime juice
- ¾ oz Green Chartreuse
- ¾ oz maraschino liqueur
- 1 dropperful Tribe CBD oil (citrus)
- Luxardo cherry
Directions
- Pour gin, lime juice, Green Chartreuse, Tribe CBD oil, and maraschino liqueur into a cocktail shaker
- Add ice and shake for a few seconds
- Strain into a pre-chilled coupe or martini glass
- Garnish with a Luxardo cherry
While there’s no standard gin associated with the Last Word, most people say this is an excellent opportunity to break out your best brand. If possible, reach for a dry gin variety that has strong herbal notes. The combination of a juniper-forward gin and Green Chartreuse should give your Last Word a heavenly herbaceous taste.
How Long Do CBD’s Effects “Last”?
Many newcomers to the hemp industry ask Tribe CBD how long CBD’s effects will last. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to give a one-size-fits-all answer to that question. Everybody has a slightly different metabolism, which means the same dose of CBD won’t affect everyone the same. Plus, the form of CBD you take (e.g., tincture, edible, or topical) will significantly impact how your body absorbs it.
All that being said, most people claim CBD’s effects last about 2 – 8 hours. However, you need to ensure you’re taking the right amount of CBD oil for your body’s needs—otherwise, you might not feel anything.
