The Clover Club is a pleasant pre-Prohibition cocktail that hails from Philadelphia. Once a distinguished drink exclusively for discerning gentlemen, the Clover Club is now relatively easy to shake at home. If you love raspberries, then you can’t miss out on this frothy gin-based drink.
For a little extra sour, we’ve added a pinch of our citrus-flavored CBD oil to this authentic Clover Club recipe. If that’s a bit too tart for your taste, please remember Tribe CBD also offers a natural-flavored CBD oil.
As you research the Clover Club, you’ll see a few recipes sub raspberry syrup with grenadine. While both of these ingredients will give your drink a gorgeous red color, this cocktail needs raspberries to be “authentic.” Thankfully, it’s not all that hard to make raspberry syrup at home. Indeed, we detailed precisely what you could do to make this syrup on ourCBD Floradora post.
If you don’t feel like making raspberry syrup, then we’d recommend looking for a high-quality raspberry liqueur. Alternatively, you could buy a fresh batch of raspberries and muddle them into your drink.
Of course, if you like the pomegranate notes of grenadine, please don’t hesitate to try it in a Clover Club variation. Just don’t go around calling it a “true” Clover Club!
CBD Scotch & Soda Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 ½ oz gin
- ½ oz dry vermouth
- ½ oz raspberry syrup
- ½ oz lemon juice
- Egg white
- ½ dropperful Tribe CBD oil (citrus)
- Fresh raspberries
Directions
- Crack a fresh egg and drop the egg white into your cocktail shaker
- Add gin, dry vermouth, raspberry syrup, and lemon juice to the container
- Shake without ice for about 10 seconds
- Add a few ice cubes and shake for at least 40 seconds
- Strain into a pre-chilled coupe glass
- Squirt a ½ dropperful of Tribe CBD oil
- Garnish with fresh raspberries
As we mentioned with other egg white cocktails, there’s always a risk of salmonella poisoning. For your health, please only use a fresh egg that shows no signs of damage. You could also use a pasteurized egg if it’d make you feel safer.
If the thought of using an egg irks you, then we’d suggest looking into “aquafaba.” As vegans already know, aquafaba refers to the liquid found in a can of chickpeas. Interestingly, this liquid acts just like an egg white as you whip this cocktail.
