If you like Piña Coladas, then you’ll love the Painkiller. Created in the 70s on the British Virgin Islands, this sweet cocktail has all the tropical flavors you’d associate with a relaxing Caribbean getaway. So, whenever you need a quick trip to a Bahamian beach, simply create this pineapple-forward drink, close your eyes, and sip.

OK, we know, it’s not super easy to pretend you’re on the British Virgin Islands when it’s snowing outside. So, here’s an easy way to add some extra relaxation to this rum-based drink: mix in a dropperful of Tribe’s citrus-flavored CBD oil! The added chill from our high-quality CBD oil can help you relax even after the most stressful days.

While you could use any rum you’d like in a Painkiller recipe, purists may insist on pouring a bottle of Pusser’s Rum. Interestingly, Pusser’s didn’t invent the Painkiller, but it capitalized on this drink’s popularity by buying the rights in the 1980s. So, if you want to keep this drink “authentic,” it’s worth seeking out this brand.

While the choice of rum isn’t super critical, you should take extra care to get a can of “cream of coconut” at your grocery store. There is a massive difference between “coconut cream” and “cream of coconut” that will affect your CBD cocktail’s flavor. For more detailed info on “cream of coconut,” be sure to read our previous CBD Piña Colada post.

Pineapple Perfection – Enjoy Tribe’s “Killer” CBD Painkiller

CBD Painkiller Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 oz rum
  • 4 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz orange juice
  • ¾ oz cream of coconut
  • 1 dropperful Tribe CBD oil (citrus)
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Pineapple chunk
  • Mint sprig

Directions

  • Pour rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and cream of coconut into a cocktail shaker.
  • Add ice and shake for a few seconds
  • Strain into an ice-filled Tiki mug or highball glass
  • Drizzle a dropperful of Tribe CBD oil on top
  • Garnish with a pineapple chunk, maraschino cherry, and mint sprig, if desired

Okay, maybe we went a little crazy with garnishes in our recipe, but please remember they’re all just suggestions. If you want to be more conservative, then we’d opt for either one pineapple wedge or a cherry.

However, there are many bartenders out who go wild with Painkiller garnishes. In addition to the pineapple and cherry, you can find variations with an orange slice and a cinnamon stick. Plus, it’s not unheard of to add a dusting of ground nutmeg to the top of a Painkiller.

Zap Your Pain With Tribe’s CBD Cream

Did you know CBD might have “painkilling” properties of its own? Indeed, there’s now research out of the University of Kentucky that suggests CBD topicals could decrease arthritis-related swelling. On top of that, there’s now data that suggests we have CB2 receptors along our skin. This means regularly applying a CBD topical like Tribe’s Cold Therapy Cream might help manage common joint or muscle pain.
