Nowadays, when people talk about “How I Met Your Mother,” they’re most likely going to argue over this sitcom’s controversial finale. However, let’s hit the “pause” button for a second and remember all the laughs along the way. And, for an extra dose of nostalgia, let’s whip up a HIMYM-inspired cocktail: the Robin Scherbatsky!
Originally called the “Minnesota Tidal Wave,” this unabashedly girly cocktail made a famous appearance in the hot 2000s sitcom. Just be forewarned: this cocktail calls for a lot of sugar, so it’s best not to overindulge on this sweet treat.
For extra fun, we’re going to add a spritz of our citrus-flavored CBD oil for extra chill. As Barney would say, this post is going to be legend- (wait for it!) -ary!
CBD Meets “How I Met Your Mother”
No matter what diet you’re on, we’re pretty sure this CBD cocktail isn’t allowed. While our high-quality CBD oil adds a little healthy touch, it’s not enough to combat all of the uber-sweet ingredients. Not only is this drink filled with fruity spirits, it calls for five heaping tablespoons of sugar.
Although we’re going to present the “authentic” recipe below, please feel free to dial back the sugar content. Remember, this is a fictional cocktail on a TV show (i.e., it’s supposed to be a little ridiculous). So what if Marshall has a meltdown; you’re the one that has to enjoy this cocktail!
CBD Robin Scherbatsky Cocktail
Ingredients
- 1 oz peach schnapps
- 1 oz strawberry crème liqueur
- ½ oz coconut rum
- ¼ oz vanilla-flavored vodka
- ~ ½ oz cranberry juice
- 5 tbsp sugar
- 1 dropperful Tribe CBD oil (citrus)
- Maraschino cherries
Directions
- Excluding cherries, pour all ingredients into a blender
- Add ice and blitz for a few seconds
- Keep blending and adjusting till you reach your desired consistency
- Transfer your drink to a pre-chilled hurricane glass
- Top with maraschino cherries
Fun fact: you can’t order this CBD cocktail in HIMYM’s home-base. If you’ve been following CBD news in recent years, you probably know the NYPD raided a bunch of New York restaurants selling CBD edibles.
Although CBD oil is legal in New York State, local authorities don’t allow manufacturers to use CBD as a food additive. Until there’s further guidance from the FDA, eating CBD edibles is technically illegal in the Big Apple.
This recent example is a stark reminder that not all states are OK with all hemp products. Please double-check your state’s CBD laws if you’re concerned about ordering from Tribe CBD.
