Americans may have invented applejack, but the Germans deserve credit for creating the first apple-based mocktail. Known as “apfelschorle,” this non-alcoholic drink is a refreshing way to add some fizz to your cider. If you already loved Tribe’s recipes for the Jack Rose and appletini, then you’re going to love mixing this sweet & straightforward beverage.

CBD Apfelschorle Recipe
To make a bare-bones apfelschorle, you only need two things: apple cider and sparkling water. While this combo is delicious and simple, it might get a bit too boring for some people. Thankfully, it’s easy to jazz up your apfelschorle with dozens of exciting ingredients.
One of the most popular ways to add some “tang” to this drink is to mix in some fresh-squeezed lemon juice. You could either garnish your drink with a lemon wedge, or add some lemon juice directly to your cocktail. Just remember to add a tiny bit of lemon juice at first so you aren’t stuck with a super tart drink!
If you don’t want to add lemon juice directly, consider mixing in some sweet homemade lemonade. By the way, you could read about the fascinating history of lemonade in this previous Tribe CBD post.
Of course, you could also add a few alcoholic ingredients to make an adults-only apfelschorle. The most traditional addition to this recipe is white wine—especially Germany’s finest riesling! However, you may want to consider topping your drink with one of the many hot hard seltzers in today’s supermarkets.
Please feel free to experiment with various drinks to put your unique spin on this traditional mocktail.
Ingredients
- ~ 3 oz apple cider
- Sparkling water, to top
- 1 dropperful Tribe CBD oil
Directions
- Pour apple cider in a pre-chilled glass
- Top with sparkling water
- Garnish with Tribe CBD oil
If you can’t find apple cider in your grocery store, please don’t swap it with apple cider vinegar (ACV). Although they share a nearly identical name, apple cider and ACV have noticeable flavor differences.
ACV tastes way more acidic than sweet apple cider. Since ACV ferments for such a long time, it produces a unique compound called “acetic acid.” While acetic acid isn’t the most pleasant-tasting chemical, it may be responsible for ACV’s numerous health benefits.
But don’t worry if you can’t find apple cider in your supermarket. You can use all-natural apple juice and still experience a lovely apfelschorle. However, just be sure to double-check the sugar content in your apple juice. Manufacturers have been known to hide heaps of added sugars and sweeteners into these juices.
Is Hemp Legal In Hamburg? — What Travelers Should Know About CBD Legality
If you’re a CBD fan and a frequent flyer, you need to pay extra attention to the hemp laws in different countries. Although hemp CBD is federally legal in the USA, that doesn’t mean every country has the same policies regarding this cannabinoid.
For example, Germany doesn’t have the same CBD standards as in the USA. According to current EU law, CBD products sold in Germany must contain 0.2 percent THC. By contrast, the USA allows full-spectrum CBD oils to have ≤ 0.3 percent THC.
At Tribe CBD, we always send our products to third-party labs to meet US federal guidelines. However, if you’re traveling to a country with different CBD laws, we recommend reviewing their policies before packing your bags. Hopefully, as hemp becomes increasingly tolerated, it will be easier to travel with this cannabinoid.
