Now that hemp is legal in the USA, many travelers assume it’s legal to pack their luggage with Tribe CBD products. Unfortunately, CBD’s legality on airlines and at tourist destinations isn’t so clear-cut. Case and point: a grandma was arrested not too long ago for bringing doctor-approved CBD into Disney World

If you’re planning to bring CBD on your next vacation, it’s essential to review the latest travel restrictions surrounding hemp extract. Even if you have a doctor’s approval, there are some places where you can’t bring your CBD.

Will The TSA Give CBD Oil The “All Clear?”

If you’re traveling within the USA, the TSA shouldn’t have an issue with federally-recognized CBD oils. Just make sure your CBD extract comes from hemp plants and has third-party lab results. Since the TSA is a federal agency, it must abide by the 2018 US Farm Bill.

However, that doesn’t mean you can transport infinite amounts of CBD through airport security. Please remember the TSA has a strict liquid quantity requirement (aka the “3-1-1 rule.”) You can only bring as many liquids or creams as you could fit inside a quart-sized bag. Also, each of these products must measure 3.4 ounces or less.

Is It Legal To Travel Throughout The USA With CBD?

The federal government has no issue with hemp-extracted CBD products that contain ≤ 0.3 percent delta-9 THC. So, you could travel anywhere in the USA with your favorite Tribe CBD product.

However, a few states have harsh restrictions on CBD oils. For instance, Iowa has some of the most restrictive policies for hemp-extracted CBD. Technically, people in Iowa can’t purchase CBD products, so it may be “illegal” to bring hemp extract into this state.

It’s also worth mentioning that private businesses could enact unique CBD policies. As hinted in the intro, some theme parks like Disney World and Universal Orlando don’t allow CBD products. There are also many hotels, restaurants, and offices that may not want CBD on their premises.

As you’re planning your upcoming trip, you need to review the latest hemp laws wherever you’re going. Only travel with CBD oil if you’re sure your target destination is OK with this product.

What About Traveling With CBD Oil Internationally?

Traveling internationally is even more challenging than flying within North America. Not every country takes a friendly stance towards hemp and CBD. Unfortunately, many nations still don’t recognize a distinction between hemp and marijuana, so traveling with CBD oil could get you in big trouble.

Travelers must look up the latest cannabis laws wherever they want to visit. If it seems like a nation takes a friendly stance towards hemp, please double-check their special restrictions on CBD products. For instance, many EU nations only recognize CBD products with ≤ 0.2 percent THC rather than the ≤ 0.3 percent in the USA.

If you have any questions about bringing CBD oil on your international getaway, we’d advise leaving CBD at home.
